A Novel Cooperative Relaying-Based Vertical Handover Technique for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

The real-time monitoring and autonomous decision making through unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are the potential applications of future networks. Vertical handover in networks is a mechanism to switch communication between different network access technologies like Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX), Third-Generation (3G), Fourth-Generation (4G), Fifth-Generation (5G) mobile technologies. These have significant importance providing fast, reliable, timely communication. However, during vertical handover, an inadequate delay packet loss can cause considerable disruption maintaining sessions results intolerable end-to-end delay, disconnectivity, poor delivery ratio. proposed work addresses method UAVs by designing relay-based technique. relay assistant node, requiring organized intelligent deployment that assists minimizing average from source destination. Moreover, multicriteria parameter triggering used seamless more extended coverage. Extensive simulations using S-shaped U-shaped trajectories designed simulated performance evaluation. obtained show our offers connectivity high-performance experienced process. extensive comparison with state-of-the-art techniques proves better terms 18% success rate, 21% 29% loss.
